Raffle Ticket Sales
[9-28-2009]Charleston, SC---The Citadel Hockey Club hit Johnson Hagood Stadium on Saturday to sell a few raffle tickets. Sales were brisk, the team will be selling tickets again this coming weekend.
As we approach a new season let me say it has been a busy summer. We will be playing at least 20 games this coming season and will be participating in a couple of tournaments. By joining the ACHA and the BRHC we have given our team respectability in that other teams are exited to schedule games with us. We will be playing several top teams in the ACHA and I look forward to surprising a few of them.
For the first time in awhile we will be having a try-out because of the interest in the club. In the event we have more than 18 skaters and 2 goalies we will probably be offering an option of attending practices and as injuries or school work affect the team letting players move up from the backup squad to the playing squad. We have some great talent coming in and it is going to be a successful year.
We have upgraded some of our equipment with the proceeds of the money from the sale of our old jerseys. We now have helmet stickers and we have also purchased some great looking shells. However, we still have a long way to go. Money is still an issue and even with the raising of the dues we still are about $5000 short of making our budget. Once our budget is made we will see about upgrading our jerseys and getting some new team hockey bags among other things. If you would like to make a donation to help a great bunch of kids pleas give me a shout.
We are also going to make a push in the first couple of games to try and get more fans to come out to the games. All it will take is for someone to come to one game and they will be hooked! It is going to be a great year. Stand by for the action to begin.
